They say that in an authors first book they take a lot out of their own life. For example how they are as a person or people that are around them. I know that is true, but I would not say at a high with this book. For example, Cace Evins is a character that was made up completely from scratch. The name was chosen from the fact that it means "brave spear" and his nature and demeanor is not like anyone I know. He is very much like a loner, with him only having one friend and not striving to obtain any others. He is not anti-social by any means, but he does not put himself out there for others to really to get to know him. His only real challenge for himself is how can he make himself better, whether it is on the field of battle or field of play. He always wants to be the best and accepts each challenge as a learning experience. Cace is like most people where feelings can take over rational choices and that is proven when he goes on his solo trip. I think Cace makes the perfect main character, simply for the fact that he walks a fine line between making good choices and bad ones. His life makes up each and every one's life with choices we are faced with everyday, and we all do not make 100% time the right choice. We all can at some level relate to Cace. (Cace's name is pronounced "case". Just an FYI.)
